Participants March in 15th Warsaw Uprising Remembrance in Białystok Streets
Participants gathered in Białystok to honor the soldiers of the post-war resistance during the 15th Warsaw Uprising Remembrance. Approximately 200 individuals marched through the city streets, carrying white and red flags alongside banners displaying the faces of fighters.
15th Warsaw Uprising Remembrance Event Details
The march took place on February 28, 2026, as part of the observance of the National Day of Remembrance for the Cursed Soldiers, which falls on March 1. This year marked a significant milestone, as the event was officially supported by the President of Poland.
Honored Patrons of the March
- Lieutenant Zbigniew Rećko, code-named “Trzynastka”
- Colonel Aleksander Rybnik, also a Białystok resident, subjected to a show trial at the Ton cinema
- Major Zygmunt Szendzielarz, known as “Łupaszko,” who fought in the Podlaskie region
Each of these figures has a legacy of commitment to the pledge: “Until the sacrifice of our lives, we will fight for a free and sovereign Poland,” as stated by one of the event organizers, Białystok City Council member Paweł Myszkowski.
Upcoming Commemorative Activities
On March 1, the National Day of Remembrance for the Cursed Soldiers will inspire various official ceremonies across the region. In Białystok, events will begin at noon in front of the monument to Danuta Siedzikówny, known as “Inka.”

The observance will also feature memory runs and discussions with historians in various locations within the region, engaging the community in honoring these valiant figures of Polish history.
