Cast: who returns and who joins
Mitchell reprises his role as John “Ludwig” Taylor. Anna Maxwell Martin, Ralph Ineson, Dylan Hughes, Dipo Ola, and Dorothy Atkinson all appear in season two images.

What to expect in season two
Season two picks up after the events of the first series. John now holds the official title of Crime Scene Consultant for Cambridge Police Authority.
He works alongside DCI Russell Carter, played by Dipo Ola. John remains brilliant at solving puzzles, but inept in many other areas.
The series keeps one central mystery alive. James, John’s identical twin, is still missing. John is forbidden from using police resources to search for him, but he and Lucy keep investigating.
Creative team and production
Mark Brotherhood created and wrote the show. Production comes from Big Talk Studios in partnership with That Mitchell & Webb Company.
Executive producer Kenton Allen said the series exceeded expectations and grew into a global phenomenon. He highlighted new cast additions and promised more puzzling murders this season.
Reception and availability
The show became the BBC’s biggest scripted title of 2024. It drew more than 9.5 million viewers in Britain during its first month.
After its BBC run, the series launched on BritBox in the U.S. It set a new record as BritBox’s largest scripted series debut.
The first season streams now on BritBox. Season two is slated to return later this year.
