Cowan Rejoins Leafs Lineup Saturday Against Senators

Easton Cowan is set to return to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ lineup for their game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Head coach Craig Berube confirmed the update during a media briefing.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported on Saturday morning that Cowan was anticipated to play. Previously, Cowan was a healthy scratch during both of Toronto’s games in Florida, following the Olympic break.

The Maple Leafs faced a challenging week. They suffered a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning and a significant 5-1 defeat against the Florida Panthers. As a result, Toronto finds itself eight points behind a playoff spot, competing with six other teams for a chance to advance.

Coach’s Insights

Berube expressed confidence in Cowan’s ability, stating, “I don’t want him sitting out. He needs to play; he’s a young kid, he’s a good player.” Cowan last participated in an NHL game on January 29.
