Erdoğan Delivers Key Remarks Post-Iftar: Observes Youths in Prison Again
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently attended an iftar event at the Beştepe Nation Exhibition Hall, where he engaged with students from the Youth and Sports General Directorate (KYK), athletes, and other young individuals. Emphasizing his long-standing partnership with the youth, Erdoğan stated, “Throughout my political career spanning over half a century, I have always walked hand in hand with young people.”
Reflecting on Youthful Support
Erdoğan drew attention to a pivotal moment in his past when he was imprisoned for reciting a poem. He recalled, “When I entered Pınarhisar Prison, it was primarily the young people who saw us off.” He reflected on the founding of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) on August 14, 2001, stating that young supporters were fundamental to its establishment and successes. “Since November 3, 2002, in every challenging endeavor, young people have stood with us,” he added.
Young People’s Role in Turkey’s Development
In his address, Erdoğan praised the youth for their crucial contributions to Turkey’s defense and economic progress. He highlighted the achievements of young engineers and researchers in various fields, including:

Erdoğan stressed, “No one can treat you or any of Turkey’s 86 million citizens as pariahs.”
He called for vigilance against those seeking to sow discord and for the youth to uphold the rich values of the Turkish nation. “Please take care to protect the 23-year gains that our country has achieved through rigorous struggles,” he implored.
