Netflix Bridgerton Season 4 returns with Part 2. Here's when it comes out.
Part two of netflix bridgerton season 4 arrives in late February, rounding out an eight-episode season with four final installments. The second half premieres Thursday, Feb. 26 at 3 a. m. ET / 12 a. m. PT on Netflix.
Plot and character developments
Season 4 centers on Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and his evolving relationship with Sophie — identified variously in coverage as Sophie Baek, Sophie Beckett and Sophie Beck (Yerin Ha). At a masquerade ball Benedict calls the masked woman the "most intriguing person I’ve ever met, " and they share a garden moment before she disappears at midnight, leaving a white glove as a clue. Behind the mask is Sophie Beckett, the illegitimate daughter of an earl who, after her father’s death, is forced into servitude by a cruel stepmother.
Benedict sets out to find the "Lady in Silver" with only the glove as a lead. He rescues Sophie from a group of drunken men during a rainstorm, brings her to his nearby cottage to recover, and there, "as he nurses his injuries and lowers his guard, " he begins to see her for who she truly is. The two share a kiss by the lake while Benedict remains unaware that the woman he is falling for is the masked stranger.
Later, Sophie is hired as a maid in the Bridgerton household at Benedict’s request; lingering glances and mounting jealousy underline their mutual feelings even as Benedict continues to search for the Lady in Silver and to reconcile his attraction with the rigid social hierarchy of the ton.
End of Part 1 and its fallout
At the end of Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1, Benedict confesses to Sophie that "she has consumed him entirely" and that he "cannot imagine life without her. " He then asks her not to be his wife but his mistress, a proposal that deeply upsets her and prompts her to run off. Showrunner Jess Brownell put Sophie’s reaction plainly: "For Sophie, the idea of being a mistress is the worst possible thing she could be asked. "
Luke Thompson said that by the end of Part 1 Benedict wants to "have his cake and eat it too, " adding: "He’s trying to section out his life, which is surprising because we don’t think of Benedict as someone who does that. Deep down, I think he is. He doesn’t like to sort of go anywhere too serious or too committed. "
It is also revealed at the end of Episode 4 that Sophie’s cruel stepmother and stepsisters are the mysterious family moving in next door to the Bridgerton home in Grosvenor Square. The Featheringtons’ longtime maid, Mrs. Varley, is working with them after resigning when Lady Portia refused to give her a raise.
Episode count and release timing
Like Part 1, Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2 will consist of four episodes, bringing the total season count to eight. The final four episodes continue the love story between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Beck (Yerin Ha). Part 2 is scheduled to debut Thursday, Feb. 26 at 3 a. m. ET / 12 a. m. PT on Netflix.
To watch Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2, a Netflix membership is required. The streamer currently offers three subscription tiers: Standard with ads starts at $7. 99 per month, Standard (no ads) costs $17. 99 per month and Premium (no ads) is $24. 99 per month.
Netflix Bridgerton Season 4 music covers
The second half brings seven new orchestral pop covers. Netflix revealed the full list on Feb. 24, and selections range from Charli XCX and Billie Eilish to The Cars and Lord Huron. Justin Kamps, Bridgerton’s music supervisor, said most of the new covers will be heard for the first time on screen rather than being released early on streaming platforms.
Episode 405 features three covers: "360" by Charli XCX (arranged by Peter Gregson); "Birds of a Feather" by Billie Eilish (performed by Gemini Strings); and "Lose Control" by Teddy Swims (performed by Vitamin String Quartet). Episode 406 includes two tracks: "Just What I Needed" by The Cars (Altum Quartet) and "Fields of Gold" by Sting (Music Lab Collective). Episode 407 has no featured covers and will focus entirely on the original score by composer Kris Bowers. Episode 408 closes the season with two covers: "Never Be the Same" by Camila Cabello (Strings From Paris) and "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron (Joni Fuller).
Several of the original recordings behind these covers were major chart performers: "Lose Control" was a former No. 1 hit, "Birds of a Feather" peaked at No. 2, and "Never Be the Same" peaked at No. 6. The full soundtrack will be released the same day, Feb. 26, Capitol Records on streaming platforms.
Kamps explained the creative process and the release strategy: "We’re always looking for songs that can match the emotions our characters are experiencing and moments that can best accentuate and enhance those feelings for the audience as our characters go through their arcs this season. " He added that "Part two is extra special because all but one of the covers are premiering first in the show, so fans won’t have a chance to hear them ahead of time and get to discover them organically along with everyone else. "
