Metallica Sphere residency ‘Life Burns Faster’ set for eight Las Vegas shows; presales start March 5

Metallica announced an eight-show residency titled “Life Burns Faster” at Sphere in Las Vegas for October 2026, marking the band’s first headline engagement at the venue. The announcement matters now because advanced presale windows and detailed production partners have been disclosed, setting a clear timeline for fans and the production team.

Dates and ticketing for the Life Burns Faster residency

The eight-show run is scheduled for Oct. 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31, 2026. Two-night No Repeat Weekend ticket packages and single-night tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a. m. Pacific time on March 6. SiriusXM listeners gain access to a special presale beginning March 5 at 10 a. m. PT and extending through March 5 at 10 p. m. PT using the code SIRIUSXM. Ticket registration, presale information, enhanced experiences and travel packages are available through the band’s ticket registration channels.

No Repeat Weekend and the band’s setlist approach

The residency will continue Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” model, the format the band introduced during the 2023 kickoff of its M72 World Tour: no songs will be repeated on each Thursday and Saturday pairing throughout the run. That approach is billed to bring both staples and surprise deep cuts from the Metallica catalog to the Sphere audience.

Production partners Live Nation and inKind

Metallica “Life Burns Faster” at Sphere is produced by Live Nation and presented by inKind. inKind is described as a rewards and financing platform that gives diners special offers and credit back when they use the app to pay at thousands of restaurants nationwide, and it also provides financing to participating restaurants aimed at increasing sustainability and success. Fans are being offered enhanced experiences and travel packages tied to the production.

Technology and staging at Metallica Sphere

The residency is being tailored to Sphere’s immersive technologies. The venue’s systems include a high-resolution LED display that wraps up, over and around the audience; Sphere Immersive Sound, designed to deliver audio with precision to every guest; and multi-sensory 4D technology. Organizers say those elements will present an entirely new Metallica experience for attendees, whether they have seen the band from a stadium upper deck, an intimate club, the famed Snake Pit, or the 360-degree M72 stage.

Band lineup, timing and related events

The classic Metallica lineup—James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo—remains attached to the project. Lars Ulrich said the idea took hold early, recalling that about 12 seconds into Sphere’s opening night with U2 in 2023 he knew the band had to pursue a residency there; he called it an opportunity to reinvent how Metallica interacts with fans in a live setting and said the band was “beyond excited” to take it to the next level. The band closes its M72 world tour on July 5 in London, which organizers say leaves time to build a Sphere-caliber production. The calendar for the residency also allows for expansion into December if demand merits it; earlier coverage in January indicated both October and December were planned and that the deal had been signed months earlier.

Promotions, SiriusXM programming and early scouting

SiriusXM will run exclusive presale access and special programming tied to the announcement. A new monthly call-in show called “Tallica Talk, ” hosted by Spider Dan and Steffan Chirazi on SiriusXM’s Maximum Metallica, will feature a premiere episode focused on the Sphere announcement on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 4–5 p. m. PT / 7–8 p. m. ET; fans can call 844-TALLICA to join. The band also teased the residency on social media with its famed logo and a projection of “No Leaf Clover. ” Members of Metallica made an unbilled, attempted covert appearance at Sphere for an Eagles show on Jan. 30, an outing that doubled as scouting for the residency.

What makes this notable is the convergence of timing and technology: the band’s tour schedule, a window to build an elaborate production after July, and Sphere’s immersive capabilities create a clear pathway for a residency designed uniquely for the venue. The production is also being pitched to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Master of Puppets, the band’s first gold album, adding another milestone to the engagement. Metallica’s prior venue firsts are noted in the planning—the band was the first heavy metal act to play Sphere and was the first metal band to play Allegiant Stadium in February 2022—underscoring a pattern of large-scale, venue-focused projects in the band’s recent history.
