Nvidia Earnings Show Record Quarter as Data Center Sales Surge
In its latest release, nvidia earnings highlighted a record fourth quarter and a blockbuster fiscal year, underscoring strong demand for AI compute as the company set a $0. 01 quarterly dividend for April 1, 2026.
Nvidia Earnings drive a record quarter
NVIDIA reported record revenue for the fourth quarter ended January 25, 2026, of $68. 1 billion, up 20% from the previous quarter and up 73% from a year earlier. Some coverage cited the quarter’s revenue as $68. 13 billion and listed earnings per share of $1. 62 versus a $1. 53 estimate. For fiscal 2026, NVIDIA said revenue totaled $215. 9 billion, up 65% from a year ago.
Data center business jumps 75% to $62. 3 billion
The company’s data center business, which generates the vast majority of NVIDIA’s revenue, grew 75% year over year to $62. 3 billion for the quarter. That surge helped produce an enormous total profit for the fiscal year of $120 billion in some coverage of the results.
Margins, earnings per share and management comments
For the quarter, NVIDIA reported GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins of 75. 0% and 75. 2%, respectively; for fiscal 2026, GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins were 71. 1% and 71. 3%. The company disclosed GAAP and non-GAAP earnings per diluted share for the quarter of $1. 76 and $1. 62, respectively, and GAAP and non-GAAP earnings per diluted share for fiscal 2026 of $4. 90 and $4. 77.
CEO Jensen Huang said, “Computing demand is growing exponentially — the agentic AI inflection point has arrived. Grace Blackwell with NVLink is the king of inference today — delivering an order-of-magnitude lower cost per token — and Vera Rubin will extend that leadership even further. ” On the earnings call he added, “Our customers are racing to invest in AI compute – the factories powering the AI industrial revolution and their future growth, ” and later said, “In this new world of AI, compute equals revenues. ”
Buybacks, dividend and capital decisions
During fiscal 2026, NVIDIA returned $41. 1 billion to shareholders through share repurchases and cash dividends. At the end of the fourth quarter, the company had $58. 5 billion remaining under its share repurchase authorization. NVIDIA will pay a quarterly cash dividend of $0. 01 per share on April 1, 2026, to shareholders of record on March 11, 2026.
Governance changes and outlook for fiscal 2027
Beginning in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, NVIDIA will include stock-based compensation expense in non-GAAP financial measures. For the full year fiscal 2027, the company expects GAAP and non-GAAP tax rates to be between 17. 0% and 19. 0%, excluding any discrete items and material changes to NVIDIA’s tax environment.
Market reaction, investor questions and OpenAI deal updates
Shares initially rose by around 3% in after-hours trading following the earnings release, though those gains fell to less than 1% as the day progressed. Investors have shown increased skepticism about heavy AI spending by major tech firms; share prices for the so-called Magnificent Seven tech firms began the year in decline in some markets. One prominent proposed deal—a $100 billion investment into OpenAI—fell through earlier this month; instead, NVIDIA will invest $30 billion into OpenAI as OpenAI seeks to go public later this year at a valuation of around $730 billion. Coverage also noted that, after years of beating Wall Street expectations each quarter, NVIDIA’s quarterly results have repeatedly surpassed forecasts.
