Blueberry Recall 2026: Frozen Fruit Company Locates 55,000 Pounds of Recalled Blueberries

Blueberry Recall 2026 centers on more than 55, 000 pounds of frozen blueberries that Willamette Valley Fruit Company has recalled because of a listeria risk, and the company’s parent says the product has been located and accounted for.

Blueberry Recall 2026: where the fruit went

Willamette Valley Fruit Company distributed the affected frozen blueberries in bulk to customers in Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon and Washington, and some of the product was also sent to Canada. the fruit was sold in bulk and not released in retail packaging, which means businesses that received the shipment may have further distributed it to their own customers.

Company locates all 55, 000 pounds and outlines next steps

Oregon Potato Company, parent of Willamette Valley Fruit Company, said it has accounted for more than 55, 000 pounds of the recalled blueberries and recalled the fruit out of an abundance of caution. A food safety and quality assurance manager for it is working with its customers and the FDA about returning or destroying the food.

Health risks tied to listeria and who is most vulnerable

The recall was issued because of the risk of Listeria, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says is the third-leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the U. S. The CDC notes that each year 1, 250 people are infected and 172 die. Symptoms usually appear within 24 hours of eating contaminated food and can include diarrhea and vomiting; if the infection spreads beyond the gut it can advance to flu-like symptoms such as fever, headaches, muscle ache, fatigue, confusion, loss of balance or seizures.

People at higher risk include older adults, newborns, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems; those groups are the primary reason the company recalled the frozen blueberries out of caution.

The company reiterated that all of the affected product is accounted for and said it is coordinating with customers and the FDA about the return or destruction of the recalled fruit. That process—returning or destroying the 55, 000 pounds of frozen blueberries under FDA guidance—is the next confirmed step in the response to the Blueberry Recall 2026.
