The Stolen Girl: the stolen girl arrives on ITV1
The stolen girl will reach UK viewers when the five-part drama kicks off on ITV from Wednesday 25th February. The Stolen Girl originally aired on Disney+ last April and is based on Alex Dahl’s bestselling novel Playdate.

Holliday Grainger, Denise Gough and Ambika Mod star in the series. Jim Sturgess plays Fred Blix, one half of the married couple whose daughter, Lucia, goes missing, while Elisa Blix is Lucia’s mother. Elisa is a cabin manager on private jets and she allows Lucia to stay overnight at her friend Josie’s house after meeting Josie’s seemingly friendly mother, Rebecca Walsh, who appears to be the sweet and charming mother of Josie and convinces Elisa to let Lucia spend the night at her home.
ITV and Disney pact
ITV and Disney are deepening their content sharing pact in the UK. Following on from their streaming pact, which sees limited amounts of content from one past to the other’s streaming service, a pair of Hulu originals will run on the ITV1 broadcast network. Debuting tomorrow is The Stolen Girl, the Quay Street Productions and Brightstar drama that launched on Disney+ in April last year. Following that later in the year is The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, which will also play on ITV1. Both shows will be broadcasted under the brand ‘Disney+ presents a Hulu Original’ on ITV.
Main characters and plot
The Stolen Girl series follows a mother whose young daughter goes missing after a sleepover, unfolding into a story of deception, family secrets, and betrayal. Lucia’s abduction sets off multiple investigations: DI Shona Sinclair is the lead investigator on Lucia’s case, while Selma Desai, played by Ambika Mod, is a driven journalist at Dash Voice who feels the police aren’t moving fast enough and takes matters into her own hands, leading her own investigation. Fred Blix is described as a criminal barrister whose world is turned upside down when his daughter Lucia is kidnapped. Marcus Turner is a hotelier and Elisa’s former lover, who is currently serving time in prison.

Jim Sturgess is an English actor and singer-songwriter, best known for playing Jude in Across the Universe, Ben Campbell in 21, and Dexter Mayhew in the 2011 One Day film. His other credits include Cloud Atlas, Fifty Dead Men Walking, and voice work in Legend of the Guardians. Ambika Mod is known for playing Emma Morley in the 2024 Netflix series One Day and for her breakout role as Shruti Acharya in the 2022 drama This Is Going to Hurt; she has also appeared in I Hate Suzie. Denise Gough is an Irish actress renowned for Olivier Award-winning performances on stage in People, Places and Things and Angels in America, and on screen she is known for roles including Dedra Meero in Disney+’s Andor, Connie Mortensen in Too Close, and the titular role in the thriller Paula. Holliday Grainger may be recognised from the 's The Capture, on which she stars as DCI Rachel Carey; that show is set to return for a third season this March. Bronagh Waugh is known for her work on The Fall and Hollyoaks, which she starred in from 2009 to 2013; she has also appeared in Ridley, Viewpoint, Unforgotten, Derry Girls, and Death in Paradise.
