The Stolen Girl arrives on ITV tonight as Disney expands Hulu pact

The Stolen Girl, produced by Quay Street Productions and Brightstar, adapts Alex Dahl’s novel Playdate and follows Elisa Blix after her nine-year-old daughter, Lucia, goes missing following a sleepover. Denise Gough stars as Elisa Blix; Holliday Grainger plays Rebecca, the other mother; Jim Sturgess appears as Fred Blix; Ambika Mod is also listed among the cast. The story opens when Elisa, who had initially hesitated about the sleepover, meets Rebecca at her "stunning home" and agrees to let Lucia stay overnight. When Elisa and Fred return the next day to collect Lucia, Rebecca, Josie and Lucia have vanished and the house stands empty save for a cleaner who tells the devastated couple, "no one lives here. " The five-episode series will air weekly after tonight’s premiere, and the complete boxset is already available to stream on ITVX.
ITV and Disney expand content pact
ITV and Disney are deepening their content-sharing relationship in the U. K., with a pair of Hulu originals set to run on ITV1 under the banner "Disney+ presents a Hulu Original. " Debuting on ITV is The Stolen Girl, which originally launched on Disney+ in April last year; later in the year ITV1 will also broadcast The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, said: "This marks an exciting next step in our collaboration with ITV. We’re thrilled that two of our most compelling original series will air on ITV’s powerful primetime platform, introducing millions more viewers to Hulu Originals on Disney+. " Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, added: "We are delighted to be deepening our relationship with Disney. Bringing these premium Original series into our primetime linear schedule is fantastic for ITV audiences. This extension perfectly complements our existing relationship and showcases the strength of the content-sharing model we established last summer. " In July last year, Disney+ added a "Taste of ITVX" rail and ITVX added a "Taste of Disney+" rail as earlier steps in that collaboration.

The Stolen Girl centers on a mother-daughter disappearance that unfolds into deception, family secrets and betrayal. The series clocks five episodes; viewers can expect the remaining instalments to air weekly after the Feb. 25 premiere. Promotions cite the plot point of a nine-year-old Lucia’s sleepover turning into a missing-person mystery, and early viewer reaction on IMDb praised the show as "Very suspenseful!" and "binge-worthy, " with one fan writing, "If you like any of Harlan Coben's series, you'll enjoy this.
