ICC Reprimands Pakistan’s Sidra Amin for Code of Conduct Violation
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially reprimanded Pakistan’s Sidra Amin for breaching the Code of Conduct during their first Women’s One Day International (WODI) against South Africa.
Incident Details
This incident occurred on Sunday in Bloemfontein, during the 24th over of Pakistan’s innings. Sidra reacted to her dismissal by slamming her bat onto the ground, which was deemed inappropriate conduct.
Code of Conduct Violation
Sidra’s conduct fell under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.” This is not the first breach for Sidra; she previously received a demerit point for similar behavior during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025 against India.
Penalty and Acceptance
After the incident, Sidra accepted the charge and the suggested penalty from Shandre Fritz, a member of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. Because of her acceptance, a formal hearing was not necessary. The umpires involved in this decision were Kerrin Klaaste, Nimali Perera, Lauren Agenbag, and Stacy Lackay.
Potential Penalties
For Level 1 violations, the ICC’s penalties may include:
- An official reprimand
- Up to 50% of the player’s match fee
- Accumulation of up to two demerit points
Match Outcome
In addition to the disciplinary action, Pakistan faced a challenging match against South Africa. The team lost the first WODI by 37 runs, which was shortened to 41 overs due to rain. Sidra Amin managed to score a commendable 68 runs off 69 balls, but it was not enough to secure a victory as Pakistan struggled to chase down 261 runs.
