“Baywatch Reboot Overcomes Filming Hurdles, Stays at Venice Beach”

Fox’s reboot of Baywatch will continue filming at Venice Beach despite earlier reported challenges. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced that production will persist as planned. In a statement on X, she expressed her satisfaction, stating her office acted swiftly to address any city-related obstacles affecting filming.

Mayor’s Commitment to Filming in Los Angeles

Mayor Bass emphasized the collaboration involved in resolving filming issues. Her office worked alongside Councilmember Park, the County, the Coastal Commission, and the production companies, Fremantle and FOX. She acknowledged their collective effort in facilitating the production.

Filming Locations and Tax Incentives

The Baywatch reboot will utilize several iconic locations in Los Angeles. Primary filming will take place at:

  • Venice Beach, outside the Lifeguard Headquarters
  • Marina del Rey
  • Redondo Beach
  • Fox lot in Century City

The production received a significant boost with $21 million in tax credits to film in Los Angeles. Mayor Bass reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining a favorable environment for filmmakers in the “entertainment capital of the world.”

A Modern Take on a Classic Series

This reimagining of the beloved lifeguard series, which originally aired in 1989 and featured stars like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, is set to premiere in the 2026-27 season. The new series will star Stephen Amell as the lead and include notable actors such as Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Livvy Dunne, Brooks Nader, and Thaddeus LaGrone.
