Vince Mcmahon bodycam shows 100mph Bentley crash and trooper exchange
Dash and body camera footage released by state police and recovered through a public records request shows vince mcmahon’s Bentley weaving through traffic and striking another vehicle on Route 15 in Westport. The recording — and later court action allowing a pretrial program tied to a $1, 000 charitable donation — has renewed attention on the wreck and the exchange between McMahon and a trooper at the scene.
Public records release, Route 15 and an item titled "Verifying Device"
The footage came out after a public records request to the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection produced dash and body camera video from the trooper on scene last July. The vehicle at the center of the footage is a Bentley Continental GT Speed traveling north on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut. An additional item in the material is titled "Verifying Device. "
Vince McMahon's on-camera exchange with the state trooper
In the recording, a trooper questions McMahon about his speed: "Why were you driving over 100 miles an hour?" McMahon replies that he was hurrying for a family reason, saying, "It's my granddaughter's birthday" and later, in a slightly different turn of words in other footage, "I'm trying to visit my granddaughter for her birthday. " The trooper presses, asking if McMahon had seen police lights behind him and whether he had been looking at his phone; the trooper also tells McMahon, "You almost hit 115 miles an hour. "
McMahon can be heard berating himself on his own mic, saying, "Stupid fucking fool, " and at another point breathing a sigh of relief with, "Oh shit, that's a miracle, " after being told the other driver was okay. The trooper hands McMahon his summons and says, "Nice to meet you. Happy birthday to your granddaughter. Try to enjoy the rest of the day, alright. " McMahon also hands the trooper his registration and proof of insurance on camera.
Sequence of the collision and vehicle damage
The footage shows the Bentley passing cars and accelerating away from a pursuing trooper before attempting a left-side pass that comes too late and clips the driver-side rear of a BMW. That contact sends both vehicles off the road and into the medians of the two-lane highway; one account describes the BMW as having been "catapulted" roughly 100 yards off the road. Smoke billowed from the mangled luxury car, its airbags hung deflated, and the Bentley later struck a wooden guardrail. One reconstruction of the incident notes speeds reaching 115 miles an hour; another account accompanying the footage quoted the other driver, Barbara Dolan, saying McMahon had been traveling 80–90 miles per hour, moving "in and out of cars down the highway. " The Bentley has been described as totaled, with one writeup placing its value at $300, 000.
Charges, court ruling and the $1, 000 pretrial donation
After the crash, McMahon was issued a misdemeanor summons for reckless driving and following too closely resulting in an accident. An October court ruling allowed McMahon to enter a pretrial probation program in exchange for a $1, 000 charitable donation; one account framed that as a pretrial program that a judge allowed in October. If he maintains a clean driving record and otherwise stays out of legal trouble, one writeup said the charge will be dismissed in October of this year, and another described the dismissal condition as charges set to be dismissed if he remains incident-free for a year. One article included an aside guessing that existing civil cases might not count toward the pretrial condition.
Personal and career context: resignation, allegations and a documentary
The footage and legal aftermath came after a turbulent period for McMahon. One account described him as an 80-year-old billionaire; another described him as the then-79 year old driver in the July crash. His resignation from WWE in January 2024 was noted as tied to a sex trafficking and sexual assault lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant in early 2024, allegations that McMahon denies and that also prompted mention of a resignation from TKO Group Holdings. Background material in the records and related coverage traces McMahon's rise: taking over his father's regional wrestling promotion in 1982, transforming the World Wrestling Federation into a multi-billion-dollar global operation, creating the on-screen character "Mr McMahon, " feuding with stars such as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, listing the company publicly, launching a streaming network and eventually merging with UFC to form TKO Group Holdings. The scandal was also the subject of a documentary titled Mr McMahon.
One report also noted an odd timing detail: the crash occurred just hours before news broke of Hulk Hogan's death.
