Grayson Allen ruled out for Warriors game as Suns battle fresh injury setbacks

Grayson Allen was ruled out with right knee soreness for Phoenix’s home game against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, leaving the Suns shorthanded for the matchup at home.

Grayson Allen downgraded from questionable before tipoff

Allen had been listed as questionable on the team’s injury report earlier in the day but was downgraded prior to tipoff with right knee soreness. He had started all six games since returning from a quad contusion on Nov. 29, with the lone exception of the Dec. 1 matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers when he missed the game due to illness. Allen most recently logged 35 minutes in Sunday’s loss to L. A., finishing with 13 points, seven assists and three steals; that 13-point game was his best scoring outing since the quad contusion return and his 36. 4% shooting mark was tied for his best in that stretch.

Bench shifts and other absences reshape rotation

The Suns also ruled out two-way forward Isaiah Livers with a right hip strain; Livers has not logged minutes since Nov. 26. Reserve guard Jordan Goodwin will be available but will wear a protective mask after a jaw sprain; Goodwin has appeared in every Phoenix game since Oct. 31 and totaled five points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes in the most recent game against the Lakers. Two-way guard Koby Brea was ruled out Wednesday as he remains with the G League affiliate.

Earlier absence vs. Spurs highlighted roster fragility

Hours before a post–All-Star break game against the San Antonio Spurs, Grayson Allen popped up as questionable and ultimately did not play in Game 56. That contest saw Jalen Green score 26 points on 11-of-23 shooting with four 3-pointers, while Mark Williams finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Suns also lost time from Devin Booker in that game when Booker exited in the first quarter, returned in the second and then left again with a hip contusion.

Warriors side and disciplinary notes

The Warriors entered the matchup without several players as well: Al Horford has not played since Dec. 4 while dealing with sciatic nerve irritation, Seth Curry was ruled out for left glute injury management, and two-way guard Pat Spencer was listed out for personal reasons after a stretch of multiple double-digit scoring games. On Phoenix’s side, Dillon Brooks remained suspended after picking up a 16th technical foul against Oklahoma City prior to the All-Star break.

The Suns will re-evaluate Devin Booker’s right hip strain in one week, and forward Haywood Highsmith will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks as he continues knee rehabilitation. Those re-evaluations are the next confirmed steps on the team’s medical timeline.
