Constitution Hill’s Flat Debut Highlights Sky Sports Racing at Southwell and Ffos Las
Sky Sports Racing brings exciting action from Southwell and Ffos Las this Friday. The highlight of the day is the much-anticipated Flat debut of Constitution Hill at Southwell.
Constitution Hill’s Flat Debut at Southwell
At 7:30 PM, Constitution Hill will compete in the SBK Road To Cheltenham Novice Stakes. This exceptional horse, trained by Nicky Henderson, is an eight-time Grade One winner. Despite recent challenges—falling in three of his last four races—expectations remain high for his mile-and-a-half race on the all-weather track.
Oisin Murphy will ride Constitution Hill, making it intriguing to see how he adapts to this new format. He is aiming for a successful transition before focusing on the prestigious Cheltenham Festival next month.
Square Necker is anticipated to be a significant competitor. Trained by Kevin Philippart de Foy for Amo Racing, this four-year-old debuted successfully at Dundalk in December. With David Egan on board, expectations are that he can build upon his prior success.
Willie Mullins’ Daddy Long Legs, rated 152, is also in the mix. He struggled at Ballinrobe last May and will be eager to prove himself in this race. Tripoli Flyer is another name to watch in this competitive field.
Ffos Las Highlights
At 2:52 PM, Ffos Las will host the Download The Fairplay App Novices’ Hurdle. This race features Harbour Island and Rathkenny, two promising prospects. Harbour Island recently improved at Taunton and aims to continue his progression. Rathkenny has performed well across multiple formats, having already scored in point-to-points, bumpers, and hurdles.
The race is completed by Soldier For Glory and Slack Alice, adding depth to this intriguing competition.
Southwell’s Classy Handicap and Other Races
At 7:00 PM, the SBK: Don’t Settle For Less Handicap looks competitive, with Dingle and Dosman as strong contenders. Dosman, who last won in November 2022, has seen a drop in his rating and nearly claimed victory at Newcastle recently. Dingle, the topweight, has secured three wins in his last five outings and remains a formidable opponent.
Other notable participants include last-time winners Midnight Lion and Zryan, along with First Ambition, who is looking to recover from a prior disappointment.
Additional Race Cards
Southwell will also host other races, including one at 5:30 PM featuring Wonder and Oisin Murphy, with expectations of a strong showing from the James Fanshawe team. The evening concludes with a competitive race at 8:00 PM, showcasing Nogo’s Dream and Existent.
Meydan offers intriguing matchups as well, with the Group Two Balanchine race at 4:35 PM featuring Blue Nazare, ridden by William Buick. Sunway seeks to continue his success in Group Three at 5:45 PM.
As the action unfolds across both venues, fans can anticipate a thrilling day of racing covered live by Sky Sports Racing.
