Pattullo and stal̕əw̓asəm Bridges Close for Week Starting Friday
Commuters in the Lower Mainland should prepare for changes to their routes beginning this Friday evening. Starting at 8 p.m., both the Pattullo Bridge and the stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge will close for a week. This closure is necessary to connect the surrounding roadways to the new bridge.
Pattullo and stal̕əw̓asəm Bridges Closure Details
Drivers will have to seek alternative routes during this period. The Port Mann Bridge and the Alex Fraser Bridge will serve as the primary detours for motorists.
Post-closure Traffic Improvements
Once the bridges reopen, traffic will flow more smoothly. The Pattullo and stal̕əw̓asəm bridges will have four lanes of traffic available.
Construction Updates
In preparation for the new layout, the Royal Avenue on-ramp to the Pattullo Bridge is currently closed. Crews are working to remove part of the retaining wall at the Bridge Connector to facilitate new on-ramp connections and the Royal-Agnes multi-use path overpass.
Future Developments
- The new Royal Avenue on-ramp to the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge will be completed by late February.
- By the same timeframe, all four lanes of the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge, including the new on-ramp, will become operational.
- Once fully functional, the Pattullo Bridge will be removed, a process expected to take approximately two years, as indicated by the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.
Commuters are urged to stay informed about these changes as they are developed. Stay tuned for further updates at Filmogaz.com.
