Charles Leclerc Concludes Bahrain F1 Test with Clear Directive to Ferrari

Charles Leclerc has wrapped up his participation in the first Bahrain Formula 1 test, offering clear guidance to his Ferrari team. He emphasized the importance of staying focused on their development rather than getting sidetracked by fast lap times.

Leclerc’s Impressive Performance

During the test, Leclerc completed a total of 142 laps, demonstrating his skill and determination on the track. He finished the day with an impressive morning lap time of 1:34.273, which was the fastest overall for the session. This time was nearly half a second quicker than reigning world champion Lando Norris, who was driving for McLaren.

Testing Schedule and Focus

Leclerc’s driving responsibilities were shared with Lewis Hamilton over the test days. On Thursday, Leclerc had a full day behind the wheel of the SF-26, achieving a robust lap count that included 62 laps in the morning and 80 in the afternoon. He intends to hand over the car to Hamilton for the upcoming full test day on Friday.

Leclerc’s Objectives

  • Complete the testing program without issues.
  • Maximize the number of laps driven.
  • Focus on internal performance rather than external times.

Expressing his thoughts on the testing experience, Leclerc remarked, “My running for this first test is now complete. We’ve completed the programme without issues, which is always a positive.” He acknowledged the role of lap times in testing but cautioned that they do not reflect the true state of readiness. “It’s still very early days,” he noted.

Next Steps for Ferrari

Leclerc stressed the importance of continuing their work methodically. “Now we keep working and continue building step by step,” he stated, reinforcing the team’s commitment to consistent improvement as they prepare for the upcoming F1 season.
