Charles Leclerc Reveals Promising Ferrari Find at Bahrain Testing
Charles Leclerc recently shared his optimism regarding the early data from Ferrari during the Bahrain testing. The Italian team is gearing up for the new season, aiming to improve upon a difficult 2025 campaign.
Ferrari’s Bahrain Testing Performance
During the testing session, both Leclerc and his teammate Lewis Hamilton participated actively. Leclerc took over the car in the afternoon, where he completed an impressive 79 laps and recorded the third fastest lap time of the day. Hamilton previously managed to set 52 laps in the morning session.
Driver Insights
Leclerc described the afternoon session as productive, highlighting the absence of major issues. “It was a productive half day of testing for me,” he noted. “We were able to complete the programme without any major issues, which is always a positive at this stage.”
Track Conditions and Performance
The conditions in Bahrain differed significantly from those at a previous test in Barcelona. Leclerc emphasized the importance of gaining experience on various tracks. “The feeling was quite different compared to Barcelona,” he stated, “but that’s exactly what we need, gaining experience on another track and understanding how the car behaves in different scenarios.”
Positive Data Correlation
The regulations for this season have introduced significant changes in both aerodynamics and power units. Leclerc pointed out that Ferrari’s initial data aligns well with their simulator findings. “So far, the data is broadly in line with what we expected from our simulations, which is encouraging,” he remarked.
Looking Ahead
Leclerc’s focus now shifts to continuing the testing program. The goal is to ensure the team is well-prepared for the upcoming season opener.
