Devin Booker Joins NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest for Fifth Time

Devin Booker is set to compete in the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest for the fifth time. This year’s contest is part of the All-Star festivities scheduled at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The event will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on NBC, with streaming available on Peacock.

Booker’s 3-Point Contest History

The Phoenix Suns guard has a rich history in the 3-Point Contest. He won the event in 2018, during which he set an NBA record with a score of 28 points. Booker last participated in the contest in 2020, where he finished as a runner-up to Buddy Hield. Although he was slated to compete in 2021, an injury kept him from taking part that year.

2023 Contestants

  • Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)
  • Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
  • Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers)
  • Kon Knueppel (Charlotte Hornets)
  • Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers)
  • Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets)
  • Bobby Portis Jr. (Milwaukee Bucks)
  • Norman Powell (Miami Heat)

Lillard stands out in this year’s lineup as he has yet to play due to an Achilles injury. In contrast, Booker has averaged 25.3 points per game this season, with a shooting percentage of 45.6%. His 3-point shooting percentage is 30.7%, the lowest among contest participants, excluding Lillard. Bobby Portis Jr. leads the group with a remarkable 45.1% from beyond the arc.

Recent Performance

Booker recently returned to the Suns after missing seven games due to an ankle sprain. In his comeback against the Philadelphia 76ers, he scored 21 points, provided nine assists, and grabbed two rebounds, despite the team’s 109-103 loss.

All-Star Recognition

In addition to his 3-Point Contest participation, Booker has been recognized as an NBA All-Star for the fifth time. He will be playing on one of the USA All-Star teams in a new Round Robin format that includes a World team during the All-Star Game on February 15.
