Travon Walker Secures $110M Extension with Jaguars

Walker contract agreement
Travon Walker agreed to a four-year, $110 million deal with the Jaguars. The contract includes $77 million in total guarantees and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing.
The extension was announced on X by his agency, Elite Loyalty Sports, late Friday. The move locks Walker into Jacksonville for the foreseeable future.
Player background and finances
Walker was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He is 25 years old and has appeared in 63 games, starting 60.
He was due $15.196 million this season on his fifth-year option. It remains unclear if some of that salary will be shifted to future years for cap flexibility.
Salary-cap context
The Jaguars have a little over $5 million in available cap space. Walker’s new deal carries a $27.5 million average.
That average ranks him 12th among edge rushers, according to Filmogaz.com. Teammate Josh Hines-Allen ranks 10th at a $28.5 million average.
Performance and injury history
Walker finished last season with 3.5 sacks in 14 games and 12 starts. He had 10.5 sacks in each of the two prior seasons.
He suffered a left wrist injury in Week 4 versus the San Francisco 49ers. He underwent left wrist surgery on Sept. 29 and missed the Week 5 game against Kansas City.
Walker played for several weeks with a cast and later missed two games due to a knee injury. His career totals now include 27.5 sacks and one interception.
Team strategy after the extension
With two defensive ends now locked up long-term, the Jaguars can shift focus. Josh Hines-Allen signed a five-year, $141.25 million extension in April 2024.
Jacksonville is likely to prioritize contract talks for receiver Parker Washington and tight end Brenton Strange. Both players are entering the final years of their rookie deals.
