Taskmaster Secures Future with Impressive Global YouTube Numbers

Channel 4 has greenlit six more seasons of Taskmaster. Greg Davies and creator Alex Horne will return for the New Year Treat and the Champion of Champions specials.

Horne said he is pleased but stressed about inventing many new tasks for more comedians. Davies joked that the show remains a “comedian meat grinder” he will keep feeding.

Streaming performance and audience figures

Season 19 aired in 2025 and set fresh audience records. Clips from that series collected 165 million global views across social platforms, while the official YouTube channel exceeded 1.4 billion global views, marking impressive global YouTube numbers.

Season 21 lineup and premiere

Season 21 begins on Thursday 9 April at 9pm on Channel 4. Episodes will appear on the Taskmaster YouTube channel worldwide after the television broadcast.

  • Amy Gledhill — Last One Laughing comedian.
  • Armando Iannucci — Creator of The Thick of It and The Day Today.
  • Joanna Page — Known for Gavin & Stacey.
  • Joel Dommett — Presenter and comedian.
  • Kumail Nanjiani — Oscar-nominated actor from Silicon Valley.

Notable moments teased

Horne set Armando Iannucci and Joel Dommett a special Easter task that produced less-than-successful results. He also teased a “never-before-seen Taskmaster moment” involving Kumail Nanjiani in upcoming episodes.
