“We aim to inspire viewers to consider adopting,” said Victoria Schade, the lead trainer for the Puppy Bowl. Howard Lee, overseeing the creative aspects for Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed that the event serves as a “call to action” for potential adopters.

The Joy of Adoption

Among the trainers, Schade found a special connection during Puppy Bowl XXI. She unexpectedly considered adopting a puppy named Boris, a pug-Chihuahua mix. Despite having a resident dog, Millie, Schade’s heart drew her toward Boris, highlighting the irresistible bond formed during the event.

Similarly, Dan Schachner, the Puppy Bowl’s referee, adopted a poodle mix named Papi after fostering her for a brief period. Previously hesitant to adopt, Schachner found that fostering not only helps a dog in need but opens space in shelters for more rescues.

Notable Special Guests

During his involvement in the Puppy Bowl filming, Howard Lee became enamored with a five-month-old mutt named Cedar. This encounter led him to pursue adoption, demonstrating the event’s impactful reach. Lee later renamed Cedar to Fred and integrated him into his family, enjoying playful moments together.
