Unemployment Drops 22% in One Year, Reports Ministry of Labor

In a recent meeting, First Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, Kamchybek Dosmatov, presented encouraging statistics regarding employment and unemployment in 2025. The ministry highlighted a remarkable decrease in the official unemployment rate, which now stands at 1.4%. This figure marks a significant improvement compared to previous years.

Unemployment Rate Overview

The declining trend in unemployment rates has been noteworthy:

  • 2021: 2.9%
  • 2022: 2.8%
  • 2023: 2.9%
  • 2024: 1.8%
  • 2025: 1.4%

Unemployment Statistics

As of 2025, there are 56,500 individuals registered with employment services. This number represents a 20% decrease from 2024, when there were 70,600 people registered. Additionally, of those registered, 38,100 are officially recognized as unemployed, showing a reduction of 22% compared to the previous year.

Employment Initiatives

The total number of employed persons is reported at 17,500. Furthermore, there are 19,800 individuals participating in various active employment programs. A key initiative is the “Internship for Youth” project, which aims to develop the skills and job readiness of young professionals.

This project, running until 2025, has provided monthly salaries for internship participants across 30 pilot districts and cities. Approximately 3,000 young people have benefited from this initiative.

Project Outcomes

In 2025 alone, 1,851 participants completed their internships. Out of these, 1,332 young professionals secured employment in a variety of roles. These roles include:

  • Credit specialists
  • Engineers
  • HR specialists
  • Massage therapists
  • Hairdressers
  • Auto electricians
  • Design assistants

The Ministry of Labor’s proactive measures reflect a stabilizing labor market, significantly reducing unemployment while promoting active workforce participation.
