Man Sentenced to Life for Baby Rape; Accomplice Also Punished

Two men have been jailed for life after a baby was raped on five separate occasions last summer. The offences were heard at Cambridge Crown Court on April 1, 2026.

Defendants and charges

The convicted men are Ethan Towers, 27, and John Watson, 28. Towers lives in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, and Watson is from Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.

Towers pleaded guilty to five counts of rape. Watson admitted two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Sentencing details

Judge Mark Bishop described both men as dangerous and a risk to the public. He imposed life sentences on both defendants.

Towers received a minimum term of 12 years and five months. Watson was given a minimum term of 13 years and four months.

Related offending

Court evidence showed Towers sent indecent images of children to Watson. Watson was already subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Watson had also exchanged explicit images with another child under 16. He pleaded guilty to additional offences involving indecent images and sexual communication.

Victim impact and orders

The judge read a victim statement from the infant’s mother. She said the ordeal left her more isolated and fearful than before.

A separate impact statement came from a child contacted by the defendants on social media. That young victim said they felt set free after the convictions.

Both men were issued restraining orders. Each was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

Police and safeguarding

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the case was referred to safeguarding authorities. Investigators provided evidence used at trial.

The man was sentenced to life for baby rape, and his accomplice was also punished with a life term. Filmogaz.com will monitor any further developments.
