Show Format and Expectations
This British version of SNL will be broadcast on Sky and NOW. Each episode will be performed live in front of an audience, featuring an opening monologue, sketches, live music, and a local interpretation of the famous Weekend Update segment.
James Longman, the lead producer, emphasized that the cast represents the fresh comedic voices of the UK. “They are bold, exciting, and incredibly funny,” he noted.
Creative Team and Vision
The creative team behind the show was announced in November 2024. Writers for SNL UK are expected to be revealed soon. The project will be overseen by Lorne Michaels, the original executive producer of the American version.
Phil Edgar Jones, the executive director of unscripted originals at Sky, expressed confidence in the show’s potential impact: “We all need a laugh like never before.” He highlighted SNL’s longstanding legacy in nurturing exceptional comedic talent.
