Amazon’s Countdown Unveils New Fallout, Not Remastered Fallout 3 or New Vegas
The recent Amazon countdown for the Fallout TV series sparked speculation among fans about potential remastered versions of Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas. However, the countdown ultimately revealed more behind-the-scenes content rather than any game announcements.
Amazon Fallout Countdown Details
Earlier this month, an interactive countdown appeared on the Amazon website, designed to mimic a Fallout map. The map included various locations that led to exclusive behind-the-scenes insights about the show. Some notable locations featured in this map included:
- The Vault 33: This location serves as Lucy’s point of entry into the wasteland.
- The Caswennan: An airship serving as a stronghold for the Brotherhood of Steel.
The countdown also featured a locked point of interest set to unlock on February 4, coinciding with the release of the Fallout Season 2 finale. Fans hoped that this countdown might lead to exciting game news, possibly teasing a remaster.
Not a Game Announcement
Unfortunately for gamers, the countdown did not culminate in announcements for Fallout game remasters. Instead, it unveiled an interactive feature about ‘The Penthouse’ at the Lucky 38 casino, known as the lair of the antagonist Mr. House.
Inside The Penthouse
This lavish penthouse overlooks the Strip, blending luxury and authority. The official description invites fans to “Step back in time to this intersection of decadence and authority!” In addition to a 3D interactive representation, there is a short video interview with Justin Theroux, who played Mr. House.
Future of Fallout Remasters
Despite the letdown from the recent announcement, fans can still look forward to the remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Reports suggest that the Fallout 3 remaster, initially leaked in 2023, is still under development. It is expected to follow a similar path to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which launched successfully last year.
In a recent discussion with IGN, Bethesda’s Todd Howard indicated that the success of Oblivion has influenced their strategy for future remaster projects. He expressed satisfaction with how well Oblivion was received and the potential for similar approaches to Fallout remasters.
Looking Ahead
The last mainline Fallout game was Fallout 4, released in 2015, followed by Fallout 76 in 2018. As Bethesda paves the way for Fallout 5, they plan to integrate storylines from the ongoing Fallout TV series into the game’s narrative. Todd Howard confirmed that “Fallout 5 will be existing in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening.”
While fans anticipate new game announcements, they can enjoy the expanding Fallout universe through the ongoing series on Prime Video and look forward to potential future remaster releases.
