Lancashire Police Investigate Fatal Altercation Outside Home Bargains Store

Lancashire Police Investigate Fatal Altercation Outside Home Bargains Store after a man in his 30s suffered injuries and later died following an incident in Blackburn. Two local men, aged 43 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of murder. The force says the investigation remains active.

Incident details

The confrontation occurred at about 6.45pm on Friday, March 27. It took place outside the Home Bargains shop on Byrom Street in Blackburn.

The injured man collapsed and was taken to hospital. He died the following day despite medical efforts.

A Home Office postmortem found the cause of death to be a head injury.

Arrests and police appeal

Officers arrested two Blackburn men, aged 43 and 44, earlier this week. Both remain in custody on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Jill Vescovi, of the Force Major Investigation Team, expressed condolences. She said investigators have made progress but still need help from the public.

Police are asking anyone who went to Home Bargains between 4pm and 9pm on Friday to come forward. They are especially keen to speak to witnesses to an altercation involving a group of men outside the main entrance.

Footage and witness information

Investigators want dashcam, CCTV, and mobile footage from the area at the time. Any material that could clarify events may prove vital to the enquiry.
