New Game Format for All-Stars

In a recent change to the All-Star format, this year’s event will feature 24 players divided into three 8-man teams. Two will consist of American players, while the third will feature international talent.

The teams will play two games, with the best performing teams advancing to a championship match. Following the selection, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will appoint a replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will miss the game due to a calf injury.

Silver has the authority to add more players, ensuring each team meets the required eight-man roster, continuing the NBA’s commitment to balancing American and international representation.

This season’s format aligns with the rights held by NBC for broadcasting the game, coinciding with the Winter Olympics. The NBA aims to enhance the spectacle of the All-Star Game through these innovative changes.
