NASCAR Reschedules Bowman Gray Clash to Monday Amid Snowfall

The Cookout Clash at Bowman Gray has been rescheduled to Monday, February 2, due to adverse weather conditions. A winter storm has affected the track, leading NASCAR officials to make this decision to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Weather Conditions and Rescheduling Details

Currently, Bowman Gray Stadium is experiencing significant snowfall, resulting in several inches of accumulation. Although Sunday will be clear, temperatures are expected to stay below freezing, with wind chills reaching single digits. This prompted the postponement of the event.

NASCAR’s decision provides a more favorable weather outlook for Monday, with a projected high of 40 degrees Fahrenheit and no anticipated inclement weather. The official statement emphasized that safety remains the top priority for fans and participants alike.

NASCAR’s Commitment to Safety

Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Venue & Racing Innovation Officer, commented on the situation: “Nothing matters more than the safety of our fans, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.” He praised the collaboration with local officials to reach the best decision for all involved.

New Schedule for February 2

The event will follow a revised schedule to accommodate the delay. Key times include:

  • 9:00 AM EST: Parking lots open
  • 9:30 AM EST: Shuttle services commence
  • 10:00 AM EST: Gates open for fans
  • 11:00 AM EST: Practice and qualifying session (FOX Sports 2)
  • 4:30 PM EST: Last-chance qualifier (FOX)
