As the January transfer window approaches its conclusion, Southampton FC finds itself navigating a challenging period. Notable departures include Ryan Fraser, Ronnie Edwards, and Damion Downs, all seeking more playing time. The only recent addition is goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, allowing Gavin Bazunu to explore a move to Stoke City.

Wrexham, fresh off a thrilling victory against QPR, is keen on securing 28-year-old Adam Armstrong. Currently tied for second in the Championship Golden Boot race with 11 goals, Armstrong has caught Wrexham’s attention. Reports suggest Southampton values him at £15 million.

Armstrong previously enjoyed a successful stint, scoring 28 goals for Blackburn Rovers in the 2020/21 season.
He netted 21 goals for Southampton in the 2021/22 campaign.

Wrexham also shows interest in 19-year-old Sidiki Cherif, who has impressed in France, but securing Armstrong could prove vital for their playoff ambitions.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis Open to Burnley Move

Another player potentially on the move is Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The 23-year-old defender, who joined Southampton from Manchester City for £20 million in May 2024, is reportedly interested in a return to Burnley. Harwood-Bellis had a successful loan there last season.

He has made 34 Premier League appearances and scored four times in 24 Championship matches for Southampton this season.

James Bree’s Situation After Charlton Loan

James Bree has returned to St Mary’s after a loan spell at Charlton Athletic. The 28-year-old right-back played under Nathan Jones and recently made his season debut in a derby against Portsmouth. With Tonda Eckert appreciating Bree’s versatility, his future is still uncertain.

After playing the full match against Portsmouth, Bree indicated a desire to remain with the team.
If he does not stay, EFL registration rules dictate he can only be loaned to another club.
