Pa. Rocker Rejects New Singer for Beloved Band: ‘I Wouldn’t Want That’

Rikki Rockett, the drummer of the iconic rock band Poison, recently discussed the possibility of hiring a new singer. Although he acknowledged that it could happen, he expressed his reservations during an appearance on Rockin’ 101’s “The Johnny Rock Show.”

Rikki Rockett Shares His Thoughts

When asked about the idea of bringing in a new vocalist, Rockett stated, “I would not want to do that.” He mentioned that if the band chose to make such a decision, he would prefer it to be temporary. Rockett clarified that while it isn’t completely off the table, he is not enthusiastic about it.

40th Anniversary Celebrations for Poison

2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Poison’s debut album, “Look What the Cat Dragged In.” Rockett had previously mentioned plans for a tour to celebrate this milestone. However, talks of a reunion hit a snag due to financial disagreements.

Disagreements Among Band Members

Rockett explained that while he, lead guitarist C.C. Deville, and bassist Bobby Dall were eager to proceed, lead vocalist Bret Michaels had different expectations. Michaels reportedly sought a disproportionate share of the profits, which Rockett felt rendered the reunion unfeasible.

  • Rockett: “It’s like $6 to every one of our dollars.”
  • Concerns over financial arrangements stalled reunion plans.

Future Prospects

Despite the setbacks, Michaels conveyed his fondness for music and gratitude for fans in a recent Facebook post. He wished Rockett well for the 2026 Metal Hall of Fame ceremony and emphasized positivity moving forward.

While the future remains uncertain, both Rockett and Michaels share a hope for the possibility of a reunion, even with their differences. Fans are eagerly watching for developments regarding the iconic band’s future.
