Winter weather has caused significant disruptions in Lubbock and West Texas, with schools and educational institutions adjusting their schedules due to the icy conditions. As temperatures remain below freezing, cancellations and delays will be in effect on Wednesday, January 28.

Lubbock School Status for Wednesday: Cancellations and Delays Explained

The following schools and educational institutions in Lubbock have announced changes to their schedules for January 28:

Public Schools

Abernathy ISD: Classes canceled; makeup on Friday, January 30.
Brownfield ISD: Delayed start at 10 a.m.; buses will run on pavement only.
Floydada ISD: Regular schedule; no JAM event at First Baptist Church.
Frenship ISD: Two-hour delay; elementary at 9:45 a.m., middle at 10:15 a.m., high at 11 a.m.
Idalou ISD: Classes start at 10 a.m. with buses on a two-hour delay.
Levelland ISD: School closed.
Littlefield ISD: All campuses start at 10 a.m.; buses on pavement only.
Lubbock ISD: Two-hour delay; times varied for elementary and secondary schools.
Lubbock-Cooper ISD: Two-hour delay; morning routes on all roads.
New Deal ISD: Classes start at 10 a.m.; buses on pavement only.
Ralls ISD: Regular schedule; families must arrange transportation.

Colleges and Universities

Texas Tech University: Classes delayed until 10 a.m.; online classes continue as scheduled.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center: 10 a.m. delay; clinics operate normal hours.

South Plains College: All campuses open at 11 a.m.; classes scheduled from then will meet.
