Chivas Alumni and TUDN Anchor’s Brother Now Plays in Europe

Diego Hernández, a product of Chivas’ youth academy, has embarked on a significant journey in professional football. He made his debut for the senior team during the Apertura 2018 season, first in the Copa MX against Alebrijes de Oaxaca and then shortly after in Liga MX against Santos Laguna. At just 26 years old, Hernández’s early career was marked by promise but limited opportunities.

Career Development

Under the guidance of coach José Saturnino Cardozo, Hernández hoped to secure a solid position within Chivas. However, his playing time was mainly restricted to the Copa MX. To enhance his prospects, he was loaned to Atlético de San Luis for two years. Unfortunately, he struggled to make a significant impact during that spell.

In 2020, he returned to the Tapatío, transitioning into Liga de Expansión, where he played for various teams including Jaiba Brava and Cancún FC. Despite these experiences, Hernández aimed for broader horizons and decided to continue his career abroad.

New Opportunities in Europe

Recently, Hernández took the leap to Europe, joining the Liga de Andorra. He currently plays for FC Penya Encarnada, where he has established himself as a key player. His performance has reportedly improved, and he has become a regular starter, showcasing his talent on a new stage.

Family and Connections

Hernández’s family also finds a connection to the football world. His sister, Ana Caty Hernández, is a notable sports presenter for TUDN. She has gained recognition for her insightful commentary and coverage, particularly featuring the Mexican national team.
