Nate Scheelhaase Remains a Contender in Cleveland Browns Coaching Search

Nate Scheelhaase, the Rams’ pass game coordinator, is a strong contender in the Cleveland Browns coaching search. Despite returning to Cleveland without an official offer, he remains a part of ongoing discussions.

Cleveland Browns Coaching Process

As of Tuesday morning, the Browns had not reconnected with Scheelhaase following a lengthy interview. They are currently assessing their options at team headquarters in Berea.

Other Candidates in the Coaching Race

On Tuesday, the Bills selected Joe Brady as their new head coach, reducing opportunities for Scheelhaase. He had interviewed virtually with Buffalo during the Browns’ interview process.

  • Candidates still under consideration for the Browns head coach position include:
  • Nate Scheelhaase
  • Jim Schwartz (Defensive Coordinator)
  • Todd Monken (Ravens Offensive Coordinator)
  • Anthony Lynn (Commanders Run Game Coordinator)

Monken and Schwartz, both aged 59, have been speculated to potentially form a tandem, with Monken as head coach and Schwartz as defensive coordinator. Additionally, if Monken does not secure the head coaching role, he is likely to join the New York Giants as offensive coordinator.

Interestingly, Grant Udinski, who previously interviewed for the Browns job, withdrew his name after interviewing with the Bills.

Current Status

As of the latest updates, none of the finalists have been eliminated from consideration. The Browns continue to evaluate all candidates actively. Further updates on the coaching search will be provided as the situation evolves.
