Alabama A&M University achieved a remarkable feat this past Saturday, recording their sixth consecutive victory in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. The Bulldogs triumphed over Texas Southern University with a score of 81-63 at the H&PE Arena in Houston, Texas.

Outstanding Performers

Four players from Alabama A&M made significant contributions, each scoring in double figures. Kalia Walker led all scorers with 19 points, 13 of which came in the second half. She also contributed five rebounds and three assists.

The Bulldogs started the game by exchanging baskets with the Lady Tigers. By the end of the first quarter, Alabama A&M led 17-11, bolstered by second-chance opportunities and strong defensive pressure. A key three-pointer by Beck energized the Bulldogs early in the match.

After halftime, Texas Southern aimed to close the gap, reducing the deficit to five points thanks to two consecutive three-pointers. However, Alabama A&M responded effectively, with Davenport scoring on a second-chance layup and Walker securing a transition basket. Beal’s late basket-and-one ensured the Bulldogs retained a 51-42 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Alabama A&M dominated the early minutes of the fourth quarter, jumping to a 10-2 run. Walker’s inside scoring and Beck’s pull-up jumper extended the Bulldogs’ lead to double digits. The team’s defensive intensity remained high, and they closed the game at the free-throw line, securing an impressive victory.
