OU’s Hield and 2015-16 Final Four Team Honored on Feb. 21

On February 21, 2026, the University of Oklahoma will honor Buddy Hield by raising his jersey to the rafters of the Lloyd Noble Center. This event coincides with the 10-year reunion of the Sooners’ 2015-16 Final Four basketball team. The ceremony will take place during a game against Texas A&M, starting at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Buddy Hield’s Impressive Legacy

Hield, a 2016 consensus national player of the year, stands as one of the greatest players in Oklahoma’s basketball history. Wearing jersey number 24, he propelled the Sooners to a remarkable 29-8 record during the 2015-16 season. His performance helped secure a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Outstanding Achievements

Throughout the season, Hield averaged an impressive 25.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Notably, he led the nation with 12 games scoring over 30 points. His shooting statistics included:

  • 50.1% from the field
  • 45.7% from three-point range
  • 88.0% from the free-throw line

Hield’s efforts earned him numerous accolades, including the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy. He also shattered the Big 12 single-season scoring record with 925 points and made a record 79 three-pointers in conference play.

This special event will honor not only Hield but also the members of the 2015-16 Final Four squad, coached by Lon Kruger.
