Geddy Lee Teases New RUSH Tracks Featuring Drummer Anika Nilles
Geddy Lee, the iconic singer and bassist of RUSH, recently hinted at the potential for new music from the legendary band. However, he emphasized that any studio work will be postponed until after their anticipated reunion tour.
RUSH Reunion Tour and Future Music
In a conversation with Music Radar, Lee shared insights regarding RUSH’s plans following their upcoming “Fifty Something” tour. This reunion tour features guitarist Alex Lifeson and new drummer Anika Nilles, who is stepping in for the late Neil Peart.
- Tour Launch: Early June 2026
- Tour Duration: Mid December 2026
Creating New Music
Lee expressed his initial intention to create new music. He had originally planned to work solo but noted the enjoyable jamming sessions with Lifeson, which revitalized ideas for collaboration. However, the pressing demands of the reunion tour have put those plans on hold.
“There’s too much work to do for this tour to even think about that,” Lee remarked. He added that after the tour, they might consider creating new songs, depending on how they feel and how things develop.
Incorporating Anika Nilles
When asked about Anika Nilles’ involvement in potential new tracks, Lee positively responded. He expressed interest in exploring her creative contributions, stating, “It would be fun to see what she can do in a creative situation.” Nonetheless, he acknowledged that such discussions remain speculative at this stage.
