All-Natural Butcher Shop Promises Clean, Healthy Eating
Heritage Shores Butchery has recently opened in Bruce Mines, Ontario, focusing on all-natural meat options for health-conscious consumers. Co-owned by Nick Gordon and Tyson MacFarlane, the butcher shop opened its doors on January 9, 2023, and made its debut at Soo Market the following day.
Commitment to Clean, Healthy Eating
The business prioritizes sourcing all-natural beef from local cattle farms in Manitoulin Island and the Algoma District. Gordon emphasized that the cattle are raised without added hormones or antibiotics, ensuring a clean eating experience. In addition to beef, the shop offers all-natural chicken and pork.
Quality Chicken and Pork Sources
- Chicken: Sourced from Fenwood Farm in Ancaster, Ontario, known for air-chilled processing that avoids chlorinated water.
- Pork: Supplied by West Grey Premium Beef in Durham Region and Metzger’s Meat Products near Stratford.
Gordon noted that their pork sourcing will expand to local Algoma District farmers, and they plan to introduce lamb products by spring. “Flavour is crucial for us,” he remarked, highlighting the shop’s aim to deliver meat that outshines large grocery chains.
Positive Community Reception
The shop’s opening received an enthusiastic response, with significant foot traffic and community support. Gordon expressed satisfaction with their initial success, stating, “We’re really happy to serve the community with all-natural local meats.” Customers can purchase meats in-store or via phone and email, with free delivery available within the Sault area.
Expertise in the Meat Industry
Gordon and MacFarlane bring a decade of experience in the meat business, having previously managed Penokean Hills Farms. Their families have deep roots in agriculture, fueling their passion for providing high-quality meats. “We love serving people and helping them find meat that’s good for you,” Gordon added.
Heritage Shores Butchery aims to contribute positively to the Algoma community by promoting clean, healthy eating through its all-natural products.
