Colombe St-Pierre’s Bistro Loses Restaurant License for 25 Days

Colombe St-Pierre’s Bistro, known as La Cantine Côtière, recently faced a 25-day suspension of its restaurant license. This decision was made by the Tribunal de la Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ).

Background of the Suspension

The ruling, issued on December 19, 2025, pertains to the establishment located in Saint-Fabien, Bas-Saint-Laurent. The Tribunal sanctioned the business, registered as 9356-0506 Québec inc., for permitting the onsite presence of alcoholic beverages obtained in violation of its permits.

Incident Details

The issue came to light on July 4, 2024, when police discovered a significant inventory of wine and spirits stored in a basement area. Investigations revealed that many bottles had been transferred from another property operated by the same company, Chez St-Pierre in Rimouski. Additionally, some of the alcohol was acquired even before the appropriate license was granted.

Hearing and Agreement

  • The virtual hearing held on December 3, 2025, led to an agreement between both parties.
  • La Cantine Côtière’s management acknowledged the facts and accepted a 25-day license suspension.

Timing of the Suspension

Notably, the cantine operates only from May through October. Therefore, the suspension will not take effect until September 15, 2026, ensuring it affects the operational season.

Commitment to Compliance

The RACJ also approved a voluntary commitment from the business. La Cantine Côtière pledged to strictly adhere to regulations concerning the procurement and sourcing of alcoholic beverages moving forward.
