Emma Stone Sets Oscar Record with ‘Bugonia’ Nominations
Emma Stone has made history with her impressive nominations at the 2026 Oscars. The actress received nods for best picture as a producer and best actress for her role in Bugonia.
Record-Breaking Nominations
At 37, Stone has achieved remarkable milestones at the Academy Awards. She is now the second-youngest individual to earn seven nominations. Walt Disney was the youngest, achieving this at just 34 in 1936. Meryl Streep previously held the record for women, reaching her seventh nomination at the age of 38 in 1988.
First Dual Nomination
Emma Stone is the first woman nominated for both producing and acting in the same film. Frances McDormand was the first to achieve a similar feat for Nomadland in 2021. Stone had also received dual nominations for Poor Things in 2023.
Achievements in Acting
Out of her previous nominations, Stone has won twice in the best actress category. Her awards came for her performances in La La Land (2016) and Poor Things. Only two women in Oscar history have won best actress three times or more: Katharine Hepburn, with four wins, and McDormand, with three.
