Three Beloved UK Holiday Parks Enter Administration in Major Update

Three well-known holiday parks in the UK have transitioned to new ownership following the administration of Celtic Holiday Parks. This update is significant for the south Pembrokeshire area where these parks are located.

Administration and Transition

Celtic Holiday Parks entered administration in June 2022, prompted by financial difficulties. Joint administrators Alistair Wardell and Richard Lewis from Grant Thornton UK were appointed on May 27, 2022. Despite the administration, the parks operated normally during this period.

Sale of Parks

As of January 14, 2023, it has been officially announced that the three holiday parks have been sold to individual operators. Savills, representing the joint administrators, confirmed that the parks were sold at prices ranging from £3.2 million to £10 million.

  • Meadow House Holiday Park: Acquired by Hall Bros Leisure for £10 million. This 16-acre site features 187 static holiday caravans and twin-unit lodges.
  • Noble Court Holiday Park: Purchased by Threesix Holdings for £3.2 million. The 50-acre park includes 173 privately owned and luxury-hire holiday caravans, lodges, and glamping units.
  • Croft Country Park: Bought by Henson Leisure Group for £3.5 million. It currently has 124 static holiday caravans, with 75 privately owned and plans for nine additional pitches.

Market Interest and Future Prospects

Richard Prestwich of Savills noted the strong interest in the parks, with over 100 parties expressing their desire to acquire them. This high demand is a positive sign for future investments in the holiday park sector.

Celtic Holiday Parks Background

Celtic Holiday Parks was founded in 2003 by Huw Pendleton, focusing on family-run operations. The parks received several awards, including luxury accommodation provider of the year in South Wales, and recognition as premier caravan and camping destinations in Pembrokeshire.

Over 20 years, the company invested around £6 million to enhance its facilities. The COVID-19 pandemic presented numerous challenges, but the business managed to navigate these difficulties, aided by a substantial loan from HSBC in 2020.

The successful transition to new ownership marks a new chapter for the holiday parks, promising continued service to both residents and visitors in Pembrokeshire.
