Two College Students Discovered Dead in Ohio Car

Two students from Franciscan University of Steubenville tragically lost their lives in a vehicle found on campus. The incident occurred on January 19, 2025, around noon. Upon discovery, the vehicle was located in the parking lot of St. Agnes Residence Hall.

Victims Identified

The deceased students have been identified as:

  • Luke Reimer, 20, from Indian Shores, Florida
  • Mary Mich, 20, from Downingtown, Pennsylvania

Circumstances of the Incident

The university stated that initial investigations suggest the incident may be connected to a vehicle exhaust or engine malfunction. The Steubenville Police Department confirmed that no foul play is suspected.

Cause of Death

Reports from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office indicated that both students succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. Further investigation by law enforcement revealed no additional information as of Monday.

University’s Response

Father Dave Pivonk, the university president, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the students. He emphasized the grief felt by their families, friends, and the university community. Counseling services have been made available to those affected, and a prayer service was conducted the same evening in memory of Reimer and Mich.
