Packers Cut Ties with Trevon Diggs
The Green Bay Packers have officially parted ways with Trevon Diggs. The announcement came on Tuesday after the club decided to release the player who had recently been claimed off waivers.
Details of Trevon Diggs’ Tenure with the Packers
Trevon Diggs joined the Packers in late December after being released by the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, he failed to make a significant impact during his time with the team.
In the regular-season finale against Minnesota, he participated in 33 defensive snaps. However, during the Packers’ postseason loss to Chicago, he was only on the field for one snap.
Injuries and Performance
Despite his impressive track record leading the league with 11 interceptions in 2021, Diggs struggled with injuries. He played just 22 games since the beginning of the 2022 season. In September 2023, he tore his ACL during practice, leading to further complications.
- Torn ACL in September 2023
- Additional knee surgery in December 2024
- Concussion symptoms in 2025 resulted in placement on injured reserve
By releasing Diggs, who had three years remaining on his contract, the Packers saved over $15 million against their salary cap.
Future Moves by the Packers
In addition to cutting ties with Diggs, the Packers have made strategic roster moves. They recently signed quarterback Kyle McCord and defensive lineman Jaden Crumedy to futures contracts, indicating their plans for upcoming seasons.
These changes reflect the organization’s focus on building a competitive roster as they move forward.
