Icy Patches Trigger Multiple Wrecks Across the Triangle
On Monday morning, icy patches led to numerous car accidents across the Triangle region. Following a weekend of messy weather, the risk of hazardous road conditions persisted.
Weather Conditions and Alerts
Sunday’s cold and wet weather created potential ice hazards on the roads. The National Weather Service issued a WRAL Weather Alert Day, which will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Monday. Drivers were urged to exercise caution due to the adverse conditions.
Locations of Reported Accidents
Multiple wrecks occurred in various areas:
- I-540 West in Wake County near mile marker 24, close to Raleigh and Knightdale Boulevard
- I-40 Westbound at Hammond Road in Raleigh
- I-540 near Aviation Parkway in Cary
Impact in Rural Areas
Additionally, authorities reported that icy roads led to crashes in rural parts of Person County. However, Roxboro Police noted that no incidents occurred within the city limits.
Drivers in the Triangle are advised to remain vigilant while traveling on these potentially dangerous roads. Caution is essential as icy patches can lead to unexpected and severe accidents.
