Organizers Gear Up for 2026 Wellness Weekend Edition
Organizers are making strides for the upcoming 2026 Wellness Weekend in Wheeling, West Virginia. Scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, on May 23-24, this event promises a plethora of activities that promote health and community spirit.
Overview of the 2026 Wellness Weekend
The Wellness Weekend, presented by WVU Medicine, will feature several events aimed at fitness enthusiasts of all ages. Registration for these activities is now open, ensuring participants have ample time to prepare.
Activities and Events
- Half Marathon Classic: The weekend kicks off with the 48th running of this classic event, a challenging 13.1-mile course through Wheeling. The race starts at 7:15 a.m. on May 23.
- 5K Run and Walk: For those seeking a moderate workout, a 5K Run begins at 7:25 a.m., followed by the 5K Walk at 7:30 a.m. on May 23.
- Kids Events: The Fun Run for children takes place at 8:15 a.m. and the Tiny Tot Trot starts at 10:30 a.m. on May 23.
- Paw-sitive Participation: The Rovers on the River event will allow pets to have their fun with an obstacle course at 11:15 a.m. on May 23.
- Tough As Nails Urban Challenge: On May 24, this urban adventure challenge starts at noon, featuring various physical obstacles throughout downtown Wheeling.
- Heritage Trail Bike Tour: Cyclists can join in the bike tour offering 100 km, 50 km, and 15 km routes starting from 7:30 a.m. on May 24.
Community and Entertainment
Participants can look forward to post-event celebrations. A bar will open at the race site at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Entertainment includes a DJ on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and live music on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
