Trump’s Tariff Threat Linked to Macron’s Snub
Trump directly associated the tariff threat with Macron’s non-participation in the peace initiative. While discussing the matter, Trump remarked, “Did he say that? Well, nobody wants him because he will be out of office very soon.” He further stated, “I’ll put a 200% tariff on his wines and champagnes, and he’ll join, but he doesn’t have to join.”

A source close to President Macron informed AFP that France “does not intend to answer favourably” to Trump’s invitation. This source labeled the tariff threat an “unacceptable and ineffective” attempt to influence French foreign policy.
The Board of Peace Initiative
Trump initially introduced the concept of the Board of Peace in September 2022. The initiative aims to address global conflicts, with the participation of around 60 national leaders so far. According to preliminary documents, membership beyond three years would require a contribution of $1 billion from each participating country.
