Hurricanes Superfan Flaunts Collection Ahead of National Championship Game
Henry Gillman is more than just a dedicated fan of the Miami Hurricanes; he is a passionate historian of the team’s legacy. His extensive collection is a testament to his commitment, which spans decades of watching and supporting the Hurricanes.
Hurricanes Superfan Shares Unique Collection
Gillman describes himself as a “self-proclaimed Miami Hurricanes sports fanatic and collector.” His journey began at a young age, accumulating ticket stubs during a time when they were physically printed. “I started collecting when I was about 10 years old,” he recalled. “I kept everything and never wanted to throw anything away.”
Origin of the Collection
His very first game was the Orange Bowl on January 1, 1984, when Miami faced Nebraska. Gillman proudly owns the original $20 ticket from that match. Since then, his collection has grown alongside the team’s achievements.
- First game ticket from 1984: $20
- Current ticket prices: Increased from $20 to $30
In addition to tickets, his collection features a range of memorabilia. This includes letters from former coaches, team flags, apparel, and even authentic seats from the Orange Bowl, many of which lacked chairbacks.
Anticipation for the Championship Game
As the Miami Hurricanes prepare for the College Football Playoff National Championship game, Gillman expresses excitement about the team’s potential. “We’ve been waiting almost 25 years for this,” he noted.
The championship matchup against Indiana is set for 7:30 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium. With enthusiasm, Gillman challenges Hoosier fans, exclaiming, “Indiana folks, who’s your daddy? Sebastian! Go Canes! It’s all about the U!”
