OpenAI Launches Affordable ChatGPT Subscription Plan
OpenAI has introduced an affordable subscription plan called ChatGPT Go, now available in the US and worldwide. Initially launched in India in August, Go quickly expanded to 170 countries before its global release on Friday.

The ChatGPT Go plan is priced at $8 per month. This new offering sits between the free and $20 monthly Plus subscription tiers. It provides users with additional benefits compared to the free version.

Usage and Capabilities
OpenAI’s announcement highlighted the positive reception of the Go tier. In regions where it was available, the plan showed strong adoption for various tasks, including writing, learning, and problem-solving. The Go tier is designed for users seeking greater access to the fast version of the latest AI model, GPT-5.2 Instant.
Free users can currently send only 10 messages every five hours with GPT-5.2, after which they switch to a limited model. In contrast, Plus subscribers enjoy 160 messages every three hours. Go users are expected to receive significantly more messages—about 100—though OpenAI has not confirmed the exact limits or the total duration of access.
Context and Memory Features
The Go subscription also enhances memory and context capabilities compared to the free tier. While free users have a 16K context window for non-reasoning requests, Plus users benefit from a 32K window. Both tiers provide a 196K context window for reasoning tasks.
Advertising and Future Plans
OpenAI is set to introduce advertising in the Go tier within the US. However, users of the Plus subscription and higher tiers will maintain an ad-free experience.
As of now, detailed information regarding the number of daily file uploads and images for Go users remains undisclosed. OpenAI’s pricing website indicates that free users have a limited allowance, while Plus subscribers receive an unspecified volume of image generation capabilities.
