9 Lakh Devotees Participate in Holy Bath in Prayagraj on Ekadashi
On the auspicious occasion of Ekadashi, over 9 lakh devotees participated in a holy bath at Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj. This event is part of the ongoing Magh Mela, a significant religious festival in Uttar Pradesh.
Massive Turnout at Sangam Ghat
Early in the morning, drones captured stunning visuals of the crowd braving the chilly weather to immerse themselves in the sacred waters. By 6 AM, reports indicated that around 9 lakh 50 thousand people had already performed the ritual.
Upcoming Second Sacred Bathing Ritual
The next major bathing event will occur on Makar Sankranti, scheduled for January 15. This follows the successful Paush Purnima snan, which saw an incredible turnout of over 31 lakh devotees.
Enhanced Security Measures
To ensure the safety of attendees, strict security measures have been implemented. SP Magh Mela Neeraj Pandey confirmed the deployment of approximately 10,000 police personnel, including special forces.

Magh Mela Officer Rishi Raj emphasized that law enforcement has been actively monitoring the situation to facilitate safe bathing. He noted the continued influx of devotees, stating, “Our entire police force is deployed on the spot.”
Prayagraj’s Divisional Commissioner, Soumya Agarwal, highlighted the extensive safety preparations for Makar Sankranti. She anticipates attendance could exceed 1 crore devotees for the upcoming sacred dip.

Aside from Prayagraj, other holy sites like the River Saryu in Ayodhya will also host significant rituals on Makar Sankranti.
