Lam Confident in Leigh Leopards’ Potential for This Season
Leigh travel to York City Knights on Friday night. York sit second bottom with two wins from seven games.
Cup exit and immediate focus
Leigh were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Warrington Wolves last Saturday. The defeat has freed the squad to concentrate fully on Super League fixtures.
Lam says the team has responded well in meetings. He expects a strong response on the road.
Injury update
Umyla Hanley returned this year after a fractured collar bone. He injured a shoulder during the first half at Warrington.
Lam described the damage as not serious and reported no new fracture. He indicated Hanley could be sidelined for around two weeks, speaking before scans were complete.

Winger AJ Towse is also cleared to play and could face his former club in York.

Friday’s trip is the first to York since 2023. Leigh won that 34-14 Challenge Cup quarter-final.
The previous season, when Leigh were in the Championship, they won all three meetings. The aggregate score across those matches was 210-18.
York’s last victories over Leigh date to 2019. They won 24-23 at Leigh Sports Village and 9-8 at Bootham Crescent.
